Fishing Report 27/3/2016

LESLIE DAM: Most of our local impoundments were extremely busy with boating traffic over the Easter long weekend, with Leslie experiencing an influx of campers enjoying the break.  Anglers reported on landing some quality Golden Perch on Saturday morning, with the majority of these fish caught on bait towards the southern end of the main basin.  Frozen shrimps and saltwater yabbies accounted for most of the fish landed.  The lure anglers also had some success, with a few reports of fish being landed in the deeper water in the main basin.  There were some nice Golden Perch caught on Zman soft plastics.  These fish are holding tight to the bottom, so the anglers having success were locating them on their sounders.  Mask vibes, blades and Beatle Spins rigged on plastics all accounted for some nice fish.  Anglers trolling hard body lures didn’t have much success as most Golden Perch are holding tight to the bottom at present.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River in the town area is in need of a fresh as the duckweed is quite thick which is making the lure fishing a little hard at present.  There were plenty of anglers camping on the Condamine over the Easter long weekend.  Killarney anglers had some success, with a local angler reporting on landing two legal sized Murray Cod, one on a spinnerbait and the other on a Jackall Pompadour.  Anglers also landed some quality Golden Perch at Murrays Bridge on small crays and shrimps.  There were a few Golden Perch landed to the west of Warwick between Wheatvale and Pratten.  We received a few reports from anglers fishing from their kayaks landing some nice fish.  One local angler landed 3 Golden Perch and a 62cm Murray Cod on a red and white twin spin JMH Spinnerbait.

MOOGERAH DAM: Moogerah Dam was also very busy with boating traffic.  Anglers found it pretty tough over the extra long weekend.  However, we received reports of a few Bass being landed towards the back of the dam and in the timber.  Blades, spinnerbaits and Jackall Gene’s were the pick of the lures.  Anglers also landed the odd Golden Perch as well as a few Bass on live shrimps fished close to the weed banks.  Fishing at Moogerah should start to improve after the busy long weekend.
