Fishing Report - 24/11/2015

LESLIE DAM: We received numerous reports of some good fish being landed at Leslie Dam over the weekend.  There were a few more Golden Perch landed on trolled lures.  Anglers had success trolling the main basin, with one angler reporting on 6 legal sized Golden Perch on Sunday afternoon before the storm.  He was using a green and black Predatek Boomerang.  A Clifton angler managed to land a 76cm Murray Cod on a black Mask Vibe while fishing in the deeper water.  There were also several small Murray Cod landed. Shrimps are proving to be the most successful for the bait anglers, with some good numbers being landed over the past week or so.

CONNOLLY DAM: There hasn’t been much change at Connolly.  Anglers are still landing a few nice Golden and Silver Perch on bait.  There have also been some Catfish landed over the past week. 

MOOGERAH DAM / MAROON DAM: Moogerah Dam has seen some quality Bass being landed in the timber on lures, with a few more reports received than previous weeks.  TN60 Jackalls, Piranhas and Blades are all working well.  Anglers also reported on some nice Bass being landed in the gorge on shrimps.  Anglers at Maroon have landed a few Bass in the main basin on soft plastics.  There were also a few Bass landed on the weed edges on spinnerbaits.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River remains dirty with anglers still landing some reasonable Golden Perch on bait in and around the town area.  We received reports of some Golden Perch being landed around the Pratten area.  Anglers in the Killarney area are also landing some nice Golden Perch.  Sandy Creek is definitely worth a try, with one local angler landed some lovely Golden Perch being landed on Friday afternoon on small green hard body lures.

 


MEETING NOTICE

THURSDAY, 26 November 2015 at the Warwick Golf Club starting at 4:00pm.  There were will a follow up meeting to discuss and refresh everyone’s memories on the importance of preventing new pest fish becoming established in the Condamine River system.  The meeting will look at the risks pest fish post to the Condamine Catchment and the increasing threat tilapia pose to the Murray-Darling Basin.  It will also discuss how to restore native fish populations and how healthy native fish populations will help prevent pest fish becoming established.

Fishing Report - 17/11/2015

LESLIE DAM: Leslie Dam remains consistent with reports of several legal sized fish being landed over the weekend.  There has been a few nice Murray Cod landed, with the largest measuring 91cm.  These fish were landed on a variety of lures and bait.  The Golden and Silver Perch have been quite active, with angers landing some quality fish from the bank on worms, blades, mask vibes and Atomic Semi Hardz.

CONNOLLY DAM: Connolly remains fairly good, with some anglers experiencing results on bait with worms working the best off the bank.  There has been some quality Silver Perch and Catfish landed over the past few weeks. 

MOOGERAH DAM: Anglers are finding things a little tough at Moogerah at present.  There has been a few nice Bass landed in the timbered area on spinnerbaits.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River has seen a good fresh, which has slowed things down for the lure anglers.  The anglers using bait are seeing the best results, with reports of some nice fish being landed in various spots.  We received a few reports of fish being landed on lures.  There has been several Golden Perch landed to the east of Warwick.  We have received numerous reports of some nice Murray Cod being caught and released.  Only a few more weeks left for the Murray Cod Closed Season.  Anglers fishing in the town area have been landing Golden Perch in various spots, with the Mill Hole being an area that has been fishing well.  We also received reports of fish being landed downstream of the Scots Weir and below the Bacon Factory.

Fishing Report - 10/11/2015

LESLIE DAM: There were some nice fish landed at Leslie Dam over the past week.  There were plenty of legal sized Golden Perch landed on shrimps and saltwater yabbies in the main basin.  One local angler managed to land 7 quality Golden Perch on TN50 Jackalls.  There were also reports of a few smaller Murray Cod landed.  We received reports of a few nice Silver Perch and Catfish being landed on worms.

CONNOLLY DAM: We received a few reports from Connolly of anglers landing a few fish, mainly from the eastern bank on bait.  There were some great Silver Perch landed on worms.  We also received reports of a few Golden Perch being landed, but the Silvers out numbered them over the weekend. 

STORM KING DAM: Storm King Dam remains consistent, with some nice fish being landed from the bank on bait.  There were also a few nice fish landed off the edges on spinnerbaits.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River experienced a good fresh during the past week, which made it a little tough for the lure anglers around Warwick.  However, there were some great fish landed on bait.  There was some quality Golden Perch landed on saltwater yabbies to the east of Warwick.  One lucky angler managed a lovely 89cm Murray Cod on a saltwater yabby.  This fish was released after a quick photo.  Anglers also had success upstream of Scots Weir and around the Wallace Street Bridge.  Anglers landed a few nice fish around the Pratten area on lures before the fresh made it there.

Fishing Report - 3/11/2015

LESLIE DAM: There were a few legal sized Murray Cod landed over the weekend, with reports coming in from several anglers.  These fish were landed on both bait and lures.  We received reports of some quality Golden Perch being landed also.  The bait anglers are having good results on live and frozen shrimps.  Anglers trolling hard body lures had more success than previous weeks, with one local family landing 10 Golden Perch and 1 legal Murray Cod on Sunday afternoon.  There were plenty legal sized Catfish landed from the bank on worms.

STORM KING DAM: Storm King Dam is fishing well, with reports of some big Golden Perch being landed on hard body lures.  Anglers using worms also experienced some success, landing some nice Golden Perch and Catfish from the bank.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River continues to fish well, with several anglers reporting on legal sized Golden Perch being landed during the week.  We received numerous reports of Golden Perch being landed in the town area again this week, on both lures and bait.  Anglers fishing between Murray Bridge and Killarney had good results on spinnerbaits.  We also received reports from one angler trolling downstream of the Scots Weir.  He managed to land 2 Golden Perch and a small Murray Cod on a purple Southern Cross lure.
