Fishing Report 26/4/2016

LESLIE DAM: Leslie Dam was very quiet over the weekend due to the extremely windy weather conditions.  We didn’t receive too many reports of fish being landed towards the back end of the weekend.  Anglers had some success on Friday afternoon landing some nice Golden Perch.  Shrimps worked the best in the main basin.  There were some solid Golden Perch landed from the southern bank near the Washpool Camping Reserve.  Campers also managed to land some big catfish on worms.

CONNOLLY DAM: Connolly Dam saw good numbers of fish being landed over the weekend, mainly from the bank.  Anglers had success towards the southern end of the dam on shrimps and crays.  Connolly is a great spot when the weather conditions are windy as you can find protection in one of the many coves around the dam.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River is a little slow at the moment, with not too many anglers having success.  We received reports of a few legal sized Golden Perch being landed from the pontoon near Tiddalik.  We also received reports of Golden Perch a smaller Murray Cod being landed in the Mill hole.  One local angler braved the windy conditions on Sunday and landed himself two nice Golsen Perch at Murrays Bridge on a Kezza Mudmouse.

MOOGERAH DAM / MAROON DAM: The boating traffic was quite heavy at both dams.  We received reports of a few fish being landed at Moogerah, mainly on lures.  There were also some nice Silver Perch landed over the weekend.

PRODUCT REVIEW

Jackall Gantarel

Crafted with an unequaled attention-to-detail and two durable joints, the segmented Jackall Gantarel creates an incredibly realistic bluegill imitation that will fool the largest and most seasoned fish. On either side, the Jackall Gantarel is molded with extended pectoral fins, which enhance stability and allow the lure to dive down to 3-feet with a smooth, S-shaped swimming action. Able to perform 180-degree turns with a sharp jerk, the Jackall Gantarel evokes reflex-driven reaction strikes from fish that may be interested, but not fully committed.

Constructed with a number of subtle, yet innovative features, the Jackall Gantarel is built with a swiveling line-tie that reduces line twists and a chin hanger that allows anglers to add weight for a slow-sinking presentation. At the rear, the Jackall Gantarel incorporates an eye molded into the tail, so anglers can attach an optional trailer hook. Fitted with two swiveling, feathered treble hooks, the Jackall Gantarel is a must-have for any fishery.

Fishing Report - 19/04/2016

LESLIE DAM: Leslie Dam has seen anglers land some reasonable numbers of Golden Perch on trolled hard body lures and bait.  The most successful spot was in between the Washpool Camping Reserve and the Black Boys.  One local angler landed four legal sized Golden Perch and a smaller Murray Cod on a Feral Cat Hard Body.  Purple, black and green were all popular and successful colours.  Anglers using bait in the main basin also saw a few legal sized Golden Perch.  Shrimps and saltwater yabbies accounted for the majority of these fish.  There were plenty of undersized Golden Perch landed on bait.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: Anglers are reporting that the Condamine River has been quieter than previous weeks.  We received reports of a few Golden Perch being landed at Murray Bridge on spinnerbaits.  Anglers reported on a few Golden Perch being landed just to the east of Killarney on shrimps and crays.  We also received reports from Emu Creek, with legal sized Golden Perch falling to spinnerbaits, with lighter colours working the best.  Anglers fishing from their kayaks around the bridge on the Pratten-Clifton Road managed to land a few Golden Perch.  Throwing spinnerbaits at the structure was a method that seemed to work the best.

MOOGERAH DAM / MAROON DAM: Anglers fishing Maroon over the weekend reported on some solid Bass being landed, some up to 46cm in length.  Most fish are holding tight in the weed, therefore casting soft plastics tight in the weed worked the best.  There were also as few Bass landed in the deeper water on blades, ice-jigs and tail spinners.  Moogerah is also worth a try, with some quality fish being landed over the weekend.  Most of the fish are holding in the deeper water in the main basin.  Fish are being landed on a variety of lures, with anglers using blades seeing the best results.

Fishing Report - 11/4/2016

LESLIE DAM: Leslie Dam fished reasonably well in the latter part of the week and into the weekend.  Frozen shrimp seems to be the best option for the bait anglers at the moment, with reports of several legal sized Golden Perch being landed.  Anglers landed fish in several sports around the dam, with a few solid fish coming from the deeper water around the main basin.  The lure anglers also landed some nice fish in the deeper water, with TN60 Jackalls and ZX40 Blades in darker colours landing some fish holding close to the bottom.  One local angler also landed four quality Golden Perch on Sunday morning on Beatlespins rigged on an OSP Shadtail.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River has been a little quiet this week.  Anglers are having some success but numbers haven’t been huge.  Anglers fishing the eastern side of Warwick landed legal sized Golden Perch over the weekend, with darker coloured spinnerbaits working the best in the town area.  Anglers fishing from their kayaks reported on a few Golden Perch being landed neat the Scots Weir and the Junabee Road Bridge on spinnerbaits.  We also received a report of Golden Perch and some large Carp being landed below the Bacon Factory.  Things remain a little slow in the Pratten area, with most Golden Perch being landed were of a smaller size.  Live crays and wood grubs accounted for these fish.

MOOGERAH DAM: Moogerah Dam remains fairly quiet, with only a few reports of fish being landed over the weekend.  There were a few nice fish landed on the ice jigs and plastics in the main basin.  Most of these fish were holding tight to the bottom.  There were also some solid Bass landed on Monday afternoon while fishing spinnerbaits along the weed edge.  Campers reported on some quality Golden Perch on shrimps in the timbered area.
