Fishing Report 16/1/2016

LESLIE DAM: Leslie Dam remains fairly consistent on previous weeks, with anglers landing some nice fish on bait.  They are reporting on plenty of small Golden Perch on the move in the main basin.  There were some larger sized Golden Perch landed in approximately 6 metres of water on shrimps and saltwater yabbies.  Anglers also commented on some big Catfish also being landed.  Lure anglers had reasonable success early on Saturday morning, with some solid Golden Perch being landed trolled hard body lures.  We have received a few reports of a few legal sized Murray Cod being landed.  A Toowoomba angler managed to land a lovely 72cm on a saltwater yabby and prawn cocktail.  There were several landed around the 65cm mark.  Blades and lipless crankbaits also worked quite well in the deeper water in the main basin.

CONNOLLY DAM: Connolly Dam is fishing reasonably well at the moment.  We received reports of a few smaller Murray Cod on the move, with red and black spinnerbaits accounting for a few of these beautiful species of fish.  One angler was lucky enough to land a 75cm Murray Cod on a surface lure.  There were also some nice Golden Perch landed on saltwater yabbies and TN60 Jackalls.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River continues to fish quite well in the town area, with several anglers reporting on their success.  Spinnerbiats are working well for the lure anglers.  We received reports of a few quality Golden Perch landed in between Tiddalik and Scots Weir on lures.  The area around the Mill Hole and upstream of it is also worth a look.  We received several reports of some big Carp being removed from the river just behind Warwick High.  There were also a few Golden Perch caught on Jackalls near the Rockies.  We received three reports of legal sized Murray Cod caught and released, with one measuring up near the 1 metre mark.  These fish were landed on Crays.

MAROON DAM: Maroon is still worth a look, with anglers reporting on some nice Bass being landed on lures, with spinnerbaits and soft plastics being the most successful.  The boating traffic at Moogerah remains fairly heavy.
