Fishing Report - 22/8/2016

LESLIE DAM: Anglers at Leslie Dam have reported on a few nice Golden Perch being landed over the past week.  The fish seem to be in the deeper water in the main basin.  Anglers are sounding plenty of fish, however anglers are finding it a little difficult to get these fish to bite.  Vertical jigging of blades seems to be a method working quite well at the moment.  Anglers are also seeing results while trolling deep diving hard body lures between Cod Alley and the Washpool.  Saltwater yabbies are proving to be quite successful for the bait anglers, with reports of a few solid fish being landed just out from the Ski Club.

CONNOLLY DAM: Connolly Dam saw a few quality fish landed from the bank, mainly on bait.  There was some size about the Golden Perch landed, with some measuring up to 50cm in length.  Lipless crankbaits fished in the weed pockets are landing quality fish for the lure anglers.  Worms are working  well, with reports of some nice Silver Perch being landed from the bank.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River saw several Golden Perch landed in the town area, with a local angler landing two legal sized Golden Perch on spinnerbaits upstream of Scots Weir.  Kayak anglers are also landing some quality Golden Perch and the odd smaller Murray Cod in the Murrays Bridge area on spinnerbaits.  One young angler managed a lovely 45cm Golden Perch on a saltwater yabby.  Campers at Pratten also reported on a few legal sized Golden Perch being landed on bait.

SOMERSET DAM: The local Bass anglers have been landing some quality Bass at Somerset, with several fish measuring in excess of 50cmn.  Soft Plastics and tailspinners seem to be the most successful lures at the moment.

PRODUCT REVIEW

Jackall Pompadour

The Jackall Pompadour is a no brainer of a surface lure. You can fish it as simply as cast and slow retrieve or twitching it under trees or above snags. The rattling internals imitate a cicada or chattering bird. The buzz blade on the rear is for insect and bubble attractant. The wings pull the whole scenario together with their freestyle action to form possibly the coolest action and noisiest topwater lure you’ll ever use. “Cod and Bass slayer from heaven”.
