Fishing Report - 29/8/2016

LESLIE DAM: Anglers had a fairly successful weekend fishing in our local region.  With the recent rainfall in the area, Leslie Dam experienced a nice increase in the water level, which was desperately needed.  Leslie Dam anglers had a little more success on bait, with some quality fish being landed.  An angler from Clifton managed to land four legal sized Golden Perch and a 39cm Catfish on saltwater yabbies and worms while fishing from the eastern bank.  The “Black Boys” and across from the dam wall were also areas where fish were caught.  ZX Blades continued to perform well.  We also received a report of a 72cm Murray Cod being landed on Sunday afternoon on a mask vibe in the main basin.

CONNOLLY DAM: Murray Cod were on the move at Connolly Dam over weekend, with two reports of legal sized fish being landed.  A local angler managed to land a magnificent 93cm Murray Cod on a Cod Botherer.  The other Cod, measuring 64cm, was landed on a crayfish by an 8 year old angler from Allora.  Anglers also reported on some quality Golden and Silver Perch being landed over the weekend on a variety of bait.  Spinnerbaits also accounted for some legal sized Golden Perch.  Anglers reported on plenty of Golden Perch being landed in the top end of the dam on bait.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River experienced a healthy fresh as well.  Several anglers landed nice fish on both lures and bait.  A local angler landed two Murray Cod in the Killarney area, one being of legal sized, and a nice Golden Perch on a Mazzy Vibe.  Others reported on some nice Golden Perch in the Murrays Bridge area.  Most of these fish were landed on bait, with saltwater yabbies proving to be the most successful.  A local angler managed to landed a lovely 42cm Golden Perch on Sunday afternoon in the Mill Hole.  The water clarity is still quite dirty in the Pratten area, which has slowed the lure anglers down.  There was several quality Golden Perch landed on bait around the bridge on the Pratten-Clifton Road.

Closed season: 1 September to 30 November in all Queensland waters contained in the Murray Darling Drainage Division. An exception to this closed season applies to Beardmore Dam, Beehive Dam, Connolly Dam, Cooby Dam, Coolmunda Dam, Glenlyon Dam and Leslie Dam, Storm King Dam.
