FISHING REPORT - 26/8/2014

LESLIE DAM: Leslie Dam didn't see too many anglers brave the weather conditions.  Those diehard anglers that did managed to land a few fish, mainly trolling hard body bibbed lures up towards the back of the dam in the more sheltered areas.  One local angler landed 3 legal sized Golden Perch on Sunday while trolling OSP Blitz EX-DR.

CONNOLLY DAM: Connolly Dam saw some nice Golden Perch landed on bait over the weekend.  Sunday saw a few anglers as they could find shelter out of the wind.  Anglers managed to land some nice Golden and Silver Perch, mainly on worms.

MOOGERAH DAM / MAROON DAM: One local angler landed some nice Bass on Friday afternoon at Moogerah.  These fish were landed in the main basin on mask vibes and blades.

RIVER AND CREEKS: Our local rivers and creeks fished quite well over the past week, with some nice Golden Perch landed in various locations.  There were a few fish caught in the Condamine River at Pratten and Lyndhurst Lane.  These fish were landed on Yo-Zuri 3D Cranks and Live Target Crawfish.  There were also a few smaller Golden Perch landed near the Scots Weir on spinnerbaits.

FISH OF THE WEEK - 19/8/2014

LESLIE DAM: Leslie Dam saw a few nice fish landed during last week.  A couple of Toowoomba anglers landed a couple of legal sized Murray Cod while trolling RMG hard body lures.  They measured 64cm and 70cm.  There weren't too many anglers brave the weather conditions over the weekend.  The ones that did only manage a few fish, mainly on bait.

CONNOLLY DAM: Connolly Dam was fairly quiet as well.  Local anglers managed to land a couple of fish in the more sheltered areas.  These fish were landed mainly on saltwater yabbie with the odd Silver Perch falling to worms.

MOOGERAH DAM / MAROON DAM: Moogerah Dam hosted round 5 of Basstastic competition over the weekend.   There are some quality fish being landed.  The terrible weather conditions had an impact on numbers, but those who braved them managed to landed some nice Bass.

RIVER AND CREEKS: Our local rivers and creeks have seen a few nice fish landed over the past week or so.  There were a few quality Golden Perch landed around Stanthorpe and Balandean, as well as to the areas to the west and east of Warwick.

FISHING REPORT - 12/8/2014

LESLIE DAM: Leslie Dam saw a slight increase on the number of fish being landed, mainly due to the better weather conditions.  Most lure anglers only reported on landing up to four legal sized Golden Perch over the weekend.  Anglers had success while trolling along the western bank near Cod Alley, as well as to the south of the Black Boys.  One local angler landed two nice Golden Perch on Monday, while jigging blades across from the dam wall.  The bait anglers reported on worms working the best, with a few lovely Silver Perch landed off the bank near the Washpool.

CONNOLLY DAM: Connolly Dam has been a bit quiet this week with only a few fish being landed, mainly on bait.  Saltwater yabbies and worms seem to work the best, with the most successful area being up near the dam wall.

MOOGERAH DAM / MAROON DAM: Moogerah Dam continues to produce a few nice Bass.  They have been landed on a variety of lures, including mask vibes, tail spinners and ice-jigs.  There are still two large schools of Bass in the main basin. However, these fish have seen a fair bit of pressure.

RIVER AND CREEKS: The Condamine River around the local area has been a little slow over the past week, with not too many anglers having success.  W had reports of some quality Golden Perch landed to the west of Warwick on Oar-gee Plows.  There were also a few fish landed to the east of Warwick, mainly on bait.

***TIP OF THE WEEK***

When beach fishing, it is best to fish the gutters, which are distinguished by darker deep looking water.  These gutters are where the fish will move into to feed and seek shelter.  The best times to fish these areas is around dawn and dusk or a run in tide.

FISH OF THE WEEK - Thursday 7/8/2014

LESLIE DAM: Leslie Dam saw only a few anglers land some fish over the weekend, mainly due to the windy weather conditions.  The lure anglers had success while using blades and hopping Jackall Mask Vibes around the rocky structure in the main basin.  Numbers weren't huge but the fish landed were quality fish.  We also received reports from campers at Leslie Dam that there was a 64cm Murray Cod landed by an Ipswich angler on a saltwater yabby.  They also managed a few legal Golden Perch.

CONNOLLY DAM: Connolly Dam anglers managed to land a few fish over the weekend.  There were some legal sized Golden and Silver Perch landed on worms and saltwater yabbies in the sheltered areas.

MOOGERAH DAM / MAROON DAM: Moogerah Dam hosted the Jackall Moogerah Teams Competition over the weekend.  What a fabulous weekend and a huge congratulations to all of the organisers.  Most of the fish landed during this competition fell to ice-jigs, tail spins, blades, soft plastics and Jackall Mask Vibes.  The majority were caught in the main basin.  Maroon continues to be very quiet with only the odd fish being landed on soft plastics in the weed pockets.  Shrimps are also proving to be quite successful.

RIVER AND CREEKS: The Condamine River around Lyndhurst produced a few legal sized Golden Perch over the weekend.  These anglers were trolling Oargee Plows from their kayaks.  One local angler also landed 2 legal sized Golden Perch, just below the High School, on a purple JMH Spinnerbait on Saturday morning.
