Fishing Report 27/6/2017

LESLIE DAM: With some beautiful weather over the past week and into the weekend, anglers fishing at Leslie Dam landed some quality fish on both lures and bait.  Shrimps and saltwater yabbies are working well for the bait anglers in approximately 3 to 5 metres of water in the main basin.  Anglers landed some solid Golden Perch while trolling Imakatsu Piranhas and Storm Arashi Flat 7 lures along the bank in front of the Washpool Camping Grounds.  Blades and mask vibes have also been successful for the lure anglers while being casted at the structures.

CONNOLLY DAM Kayak anglers at Connolly Dam landed some quality Golden Perch on Sunday morning.  Anglers casting spinnerbaits along the northern bank also landed some solid Golden Perch.  We also received reports of a few legal sized Silver Perch from the bank on worms.  Anglers are also reporting on a few smaller Murray Cod on he move, with the best reported fish measuring 67cm.  This fish was landed on a saltwater yabby.

RIVER AND CREEKS: The Condamine River saw a few fish landed over the weekend, with bait being the most successful option for most anglers fishing in the town area.  One local angler landed a legal sized Murray Cod while fishing with a saltwater yabby below Queens Park.  Anglers fishing from their kayak also had success upstream of Scots Weir.  Anglers fishing around the Allora area are also having success, with some nice Golden Perch being landed on spinnerbaits.

Fishing Report 19/6/2017

LESLIE DAM: Leslie Dam saw a few fish landed over the past week.  Numbers are starting to slow a little, which is common for this time of year.  Anglers are still landing some larger Golden Perch on blades in the Main Basin.  Frozen shrimps continue to land some Golden Perch in the deeper water in various spots around the dam.  We received a few reports of Golden and Silver Perch being landed from the bank between the concrete boat ramps and the Washpool.

CONNOLLY DAM: Anglers at Connolly Dam are reporting on some larger Golden Perch being landed than previous week.  Numbers are great but there were some quality fish amongst them.  Crays and worms worked the best for the bait anglers.  We received a report from a local angler of three legal sized Golden Perch being landed on Saturday morning on a Silent TN50 Jackall.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River continues to fish ok for this time of year, with some solid Golden Perch being landed on bait in the town area.  We received reports of Golden Perch being landed downstream of the Wallace Street Bridge midweek, as well as neat the Lyndhurst Lane bridge.  There has been some lovely Murray Cod landed in the Texas, Millmerran and Inglewood area recently.

Fishing Report 12/6/2017

LESLIE DAM: Things were a little slower at Leslie Dam this week, with several anglers commenting on things being quiet compared to previous weeks.  Anglers had some success in the main basin, landing some quality Golden Perch on frozen shrimps. We also received reports of some quality Golden and Silver Perch being landed from the bank just below the Washpool Camping Reserve on bait.  Blades and spinnerbaits landed a few larger Golden Perch in the deeper water.  Anglers trolling in the top half of the dam also landed a few Golden Perch on lures diving to a depth of between 3 and 5 metres.  It is difficult to land a legal sized Murray Cod at the moment, however there has been reports of several smaller Murray Cod on the move.

CONNOLLY DAM: Connolly Dam remains consistent on previous weeks, with a few legal sized fish being landed over the past week and into the weekend.  Anglers fishing with bait experienced more success than the lure anglers.  There were reports of big Catfish being landed on worms.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River saw some reasonable sized Golden Perch landed over the past week, with some fish measuring up to 48cm in length.  Anglers in the Killarney area landed a few nice fish, upstream and downstream of the town.  Spinnerbaits again proved to be a successful option for the lure anglers, particularly in the shallow water.  We also received a report of a legal sized Murray Cod being landed by an angler from his kayak in the Murrays Bridge area.  The Mill Hole and upstream also saw a few legal sized Golden Perch landed on bait.

PRODUCT REVIEW

The Westin Swim is easy to cast and fish on a normal spinning rod as well as a baitcast setup. The 120 is available in an intermediate version which will run at 0.5 - 2m, or a sinking version that will run at 1-3m. It is a perfect long casting lure and it has a unique S-shaped swimming pattern. Try a fast retrieve in warmer water or a really slow retrieve when it is very cold. You can also try occasional spin stops and Westin Mini Swim can even be fished by twitching it or using small, gentle jerk movements.

Fishing Report - 6/6/2017

LESLIE DAM: Leslie Dam remains consistent on previous weeks, with some good numbers being landed over the past week and into the weekend.  Anglers are having success on both bait and lures.  Frozen shrimps and saltwater yabbies continue to work the best for the bait anglers.  Anglers fishing with blades, mask vibes, TN Jackalls and plastics are seeing good results as most fish are hard on the bottom.  We received several reports of smaller Murray Cod being landed, some measuring in to 65cm in length.

CONNOLLY DAM: Connolly Dam hasn’t seen much change, with a few reasonable Golden and Silver Perch landed from the bank on bait.  One local angler landed three legal sized Golden Perch Sunday morning on a cray and worm cocktail.  Smaller diving hard body lures and ½ oz spinnerbaits have also landed a few nice Golden Perch.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River saw a few quality Golden Perch landed during the week, with some solid fish being landed on the eastern side of town downstream of Killarney and in the Cullendore and Murray Bridge areas.  Black and red spinnerbaits and diving hard body lures landed some nice Golden Perch as well as a few undersized Murray Cod.  There has been some good sized Murray Cod landed around the Inglewood and Millmerran areas, with most of these fish falling to spinnerbaits and wakebaits.
