Fishing Report 30/1/2018

LESLIE DAM: Leslie Dam experienced heavy boating traffic over the Australia Day long weekend, which made fishing a little tough.  Anglers fishing in the early morning managed to land a few fish in the main basin while trolling TN60 Jackalls.  Brighter colours seemed to have the most success.  Anglers reported on landed a few smaller Golden Perch in front of the ski club on shrimps.  We received reports from several anglers of plenty of big Catfish being landed on bait.  The larger Murray Cod have been a little quiet, with only a few reports of fish being landed.  These fish all measured under the 65cm mark.

CONNOLLY DAM: Anglers at Connolly Dam reported on a few better Golden Perch being landed on bait.  Afternoons seemed to be the most successful time of the day.  Kayak anglers landed some legal sized Golden Perch while trolling spinnerbaits and diving hard body lures along the north western end of the dam.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River saw a bit more action over the long weekend, with plenty of campers trying their luck.  We received reports from Pratten and Wheatvale of anglers landing some legal sized Golden Perch mainly on bait.  The Mill Hole and upstream have seen a few Golden Perch landed, as well as a legal sized Murray Cod on a Mumbler.

COOLMUNDA DAM: Coolmunda Dam was also very busy over the long weekend.  Anglers reported on a few Golden Perch being landed in the back of the dam.  We also received a report of two legal sized Murray Cod measuring approximately 90cm in length, just before the storm over the weekend.  Both these fish were landed on spinnerbaits.

LESLIE DAM: Things were a little quieter at Leslie Dam this week, with a few less legal sized Golden Perch landed than previous weeks.  Anglers reported on several large Catfish being landed on bait, with trolled hard body lures working well for the lure anglers.  The majority of these fish were landed in front of the Washpool Camping Ground.  Anglers also reported on several smaller Murray Cod on the move.

Fishing Report 16/1/2018

Leslie Dam: Anglers at Leslie Dam continue to land some nice Golden Perch.  The windy conditions over the weekend made it difficult for fishing, particularly in the afternoons. The early morning still produced a few nice fish.  We received reports from several anglers of success when trolling hard body lures in the main basin. We also received reports from a Brisbane angler on landing 12 Golden Perch in a morning session while casting Littlemax Blades.  The larger Murray Cod have been a little quiet, with only a few fish being landed, measuring around the 70cm mark.  Anglers reported on plenty of undersized Murray Cod on the move.

Rivers and Creeks: The Condamine River is fishing well, with some quality fish being landed.  The larger Murray Cod have been very active over the past week, with numerous reports of fish being landed up to 95cm in length.  Most of these fish were landed on surface or spinnerbaits, with early morning proving to be the most successful time.  Anglers also reported on landing some legal sized Golden Perch on shrimps in the town area.  Anglers from Allora continue to have success in the Dalrymple, with some nice Golden Perch being landed to the east and west of the town.

Moogerah Dam: Bass at Moogerah have been very active over the past week, with anglers trolling hard body lures seeing the best results.  Mornings seem to be the most successful, with reports of up to 20 fish being landed.

Anglers trolling hard body lures between the Washpool Camping Grounds and the Black Boys landed some nice fish, with orange coloured lures being the most successful.  Anglers targeting the deeper fish on the main basin continue to have success on blades and black mask vibes.  The bait anglers reported on more under sized Golden Perch being landed than legal sized ones.  Anglers reported on plenty of big catfish and small Murray Cod on the move.

CONNOLLY DAM: Connolly Dam remains consistent, with a few fish being landed.  Some anglers are having more success than others.  Shrimps and crays landed a few Golden Perch, with the best measuring 48cm.  This fish was landed by an Allora lady over the weekend.  Spinnerbaits and diving hard body trolled along the bank also saw the kayak anglers land a few legal sized Golden Perch.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River saw some lovely fish being landed over the past week.  There were two legal sized Murray Cod amongst these fish, with the best measuring in excess of 90cm.  Both fish were landed on the western side of Warwick on lures.  Anglers in the town area reported on both Murray Cod and Golden Perch being landed on both lures and bait.  Anglers fishing around the Goomburra area also reported on some reasonable numbers of Golden Perch, with bait seeing the most success.
