Fishing Report - 18/07/16

LESLIE DAM: Golden Perch at Leslie Dam were a little tight lipped over the weekend, with several anglers going home empty handed.  We received reports of a few fish being landed on bait in the deeper water near the Ski Club.  Frozen shrimps seemed to be the most successful form of bait.  Anglers fishing off the bank also picked up the odd Golden Perch.  There was some quality Catfish landed on worms in the main basin.  Hard body lures trolled in approximately 15 foot of water accounted for a few legal sized Golden Perch around the Black Boys.  Vertical jigged ZX Blades also accounted for a few in the main basin.

CONNOLLY DAM: Connolly Dam anglers managed to pick up a few nice Golden Perch on bait.  Anglers using bait are seeing the best results, with saltwater yabbies working well when fished just off the weed edge.  We received reports of some big Golden Perch being landed, some up to 49cm.  Silent TN50 Jackalls bagged a few nice Golden Perch for the lure anglers.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River has improved slightly, with a few more fish being landed on bait.  Anglers fishing just out of Pratten landed some nice Golden Perch on crays.  Killarney anglers also reported on a few fish being on the move.  Spinnerbaits accounted for a few nice fish in Emu Creek, with some solid Golden Perch being landed over the weekend.

PRODUCT REVIEW

Jackall Chan Wake

Chan Wake can take a wild roll action or it’s able to retrieve as a buzz bait. While retrieving on the surface, the props on the back of the body makes a big draining sound and sprays like a small fish running away.  The Chan Wake can also be effective whilst twitching and jerking. Prop sound is ideal in murky water.
