FISHING REPORT - 8/12/2015

LESLIE DAM: Leslie Dam fished well over the weekend, with good numbers of Golden Perch being landed on both lures and bait.  Soft and Hard Body lures worked well for the lure anglers.  We received reports from several anglers who had their bag limit in a reasonably short time on the water.  One local angler landed two smaller Murray Cod as well as six legal sized Golden Perch on Saturday afternoon on an Atomic Semi Hardz.  There were plenty of Golden Perch, Silver Perch and Catties landed in the main basin on a variety of bait.  Shrimps and saltwater yabbies accounted for most of these fish.  The Silver Perch and Catties that were caught were quality fish.

COOLMUNDA DAM: Coolmunda is fishing reasonably well, with some anglers landing some nice fish over the past week or so.  Blades are working well on Golden Perch in the deeper water.  There have also been a few Murray Cod landed in the more shallow water (approximately 6 feet) while trolling spinnerbaits.

MOOGERAH DAM / MAROON DAM: There have been some nice Bass landed in Moogerah earlier in the week, with anglers reporting of fish being caught on a variety of lures.  Numbers weren’t huge but most of the fish were quality fish.  The timbered area seems to be the most successful area, mainly due to the boat traffic on the dam.  One Stanthorpe angler caught and released seven nice Bass on Monday afternoon on an OSP Shad Tail Plastic.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River in the Pratten area is fishing well, with reports of plenty of Golden Perch being landed on bait.  Worms seem to be working the best.  The water clarity has slowed things down for the lure anglers.  One local angler landed a lovely 80cm Murray Cod in Emu Creek on a spinnerbait.  This fish was released after a quick photo.  There was also a few Golden Perch landed in the Mill hole on Saturday afternoon by a local father and his 5 year old son while using shrimps.

DON’T FORGET, MURRAY COD SEASON IS NOW OPEN.
