Fishing Report 2/1/2017

LESLIE DAM: Boating traffic continued to be heavy over the New Years break.  Surprisingly anglers reported on landing some good number.  Anglers had success a in the main basin on shrimps and worms, closer to the wall end of the dam and off the bank near the concrete ramps.  Lures are still accounting for some nice fish, with several reports of fish being landed while casting mask vibes, blades and TN Jackalls.  Anglers also reported on fish being quite active on the surface just on day break.  There were some nice Golden Perch landed on shrimps up near the Black Boys with some anglers filling their bag limits.  We received reports of several Murray Cod being landed over the last week, some measuring up to 95cm in length.

CONNOLLY DAM: Anglers at Connolly Dam have reported on some nice Golden Perch being landed over the holiday break, on both lures and bait.  Anglers reported on heaps of smaller Murray Cod on the move.  Anglers fishing from their Kayaks had the most success while trolling deeper diving hard body lures.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: Anglers The Condamine River remains consistent on previous weeks, with duckweed still causing a few issues in the town area.  Campers in the Wheatvale and Pratten area reported on legal sized Golden Perch being landed on bait.  Anglers to the east of Warwick also managed to landed some nice fish on bait, with crays and shrimps working the best.  Texas and Stanthorpe rivers are both fishing well at the moment.

MAROON DAM: Maroon continues to fish well, with anglers landing some quality Bass over the New Years break.  Shrimps worked well for the anglers fishing close to the weed edge. Soft plastics and blades were the most successful for the lure anglers.
