Fishing Report - 15/8/2017

LESLIE DAM: Anglers as Leslie Dam have seen an increase in Golden Perch numbers over the past few days, with some solid fish being landed in approximately 6 metres of water in various spots in the main basin.  Bait anglers using frozen shrimps and saltwater yabbies landed some nice fish, while blades are still working the best for the lure anglers in the deeper water.  We also received a report from a Toowoomba angler who managed to land four legal sized Golden Perch on Sunday afternoon on a TN60 Jackall while casting along the drop-off near the Washpool.

CONNOLLY DAM: Anglers at Connolly Dam reported on things being a little slower, with some anglers going home empty handed.  Afternoons seem to be a little more successful than mornings.  We received reports of some legal sized Golden and Silver Perch being landed from the bank on worms.  Anglers also commented on several fish hitting the surface but not taking the lure.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River saw a few better Golden Perch than previous weeks.  We received a report from a young local angler who landed a 46cm Golden Perch from the Mill Hole on Saturday morning on a saltwater yabby.  There have been a few smaller Murray Cod on the move to the east of Warwick, with fish being landed on spinnerbaits and shallow diving hard body lures.  We received a report from a Victoria Hill angler who landed three legal sized Golden Perch midweek on both bait and spinnerbaits.  Anglers also landed some large Carp below the Bacon Factory.

PRODUCT REVIEW

Zerek Flat Shad

The Zerek Flat Shads are patented lure invention never seen before. It works in such a way it makes it easy to hook a fish by squashing flat on strike exposing the hook to the unsuspecting fish. The slots or slits in the sides of the body result in the advantage. It also allows the lure to fold from head to tail and vice versa giving far easier hook ups on fish that suck lures in.

The Flat Shad comes rigged weedless and can be successfully wound through most snags and rocky terrain but the downfall of this type of rigging is always that bites are hard to convert into hook ups and the patented design of the Flat Shad put the odds back into the fisherman's favour when fishing weedless.

The Flat Shad can also be fished with a conventional lead jig head. The Flat Shad comes in 3.5, 4.5, 5, 7 and 9 inch models and is made out of special elastic plastic that is more than 10 times stronger than conventional soft plastic lures.
